Most of Actuarial Department’s summer outing were done in private resorts with small pools, booming videoke, scrumptious food and lots of liquor. And then, this time, the planning committee announced that it’s going to be on a beach. Yay! But then I remembered I’m really, really afraid of the ocean. Have you ever thought of it as an enormous, shapeless monster with an insatiable desire to eat the living lights out of us, doom us in eternal darkness of its belly? Yup, I am scared.
We arrived in Club Monet at night. I remember there was a full moon. And the waves were so loud as they smashed at the beach. I always thought it was always windy on the beach. It wasn’t. It was humid. JM, Ace, Des, Kate, Jenneth and I decided to stay out on the beach that night. While the others were sleeping in their rooms or drinking, we were out there having some chit-chat and midnight jamming. And though I was enjoying myself, I was at that time trying real hard to suppress my irrational fear that some evil underwater monster would show up, crawl its way to us and drag us to the sea. Thankfully, I survived the night without going crazy.
And when morning came, everything scary turned into an amazing blue. It was beautiful.
