Featherdale Wildlife Park was our first stop after arriving in Sydney last May of 2019. It was almost the end of autumn season so the weather was just perfect for this excursion.
The park has more birds than any other types of animal. They looked well-maintained even though most of them were caged. Their areas are spacious enough for movement.
I finally got to see koalas here. But we didn't pay extra for a photo with them. I'm afraid they get stressed when strangers touch and pet them just for a photograph.
They look really cute and goofy and sleepy most of the time - kinda makes you want to speak in that annoying, squishy voice when you see something adorable. But, for me, the highlight of this park is...
not koalas but they're all so lovable and fluffy. I can go on and on...
Well for me, the highlight is: KANGAROOS!
Ain't they the cutest?!
In the wild, they might get aggressive. But in this setting, they're like a giant mouse-hamster-dog combo just waiting to be pet and fed.
Despite the number of wildlife animals in the park, it's just enough for a leisurely visit on a nice afternoon. It's not overwhelmingly many but the interactive experience makes up for everything it might lack when compared to other bigger zoos.
I also got to see a Tasmanian devil. The park is really keen on taking care of their devils. Seems like they're prone to diseases.
This was also the nearest I've been to penguins. No glasses to obstruct the view.
It was the perfect place to start our Sydney visit.
