This month, I bought my first disposable camera. It's an Agfa LeBox from Film Folk. Here are some of the photos that were scanned by Sunny16 Lab. They were very interesting, for sure.
I remembered the first time I tried shooting with film about 15 years ago when I was in high school. I got a point and shoot camera from Kodak and used it almost everyday with just about any occasion on our school. When the prints and negatives came, it turned out that most of my shots cannot be developed because my finger is blocking the lens. Honestly I can't remember how I felt that time. But I find it really funny every time I think about it now.
I've been shooting digital for some years now. But ever since, I always find some more soul on photos taken with film cameras. Usually with digital photography, there's much emphasis on how sharp the image is. But with film, this is okay. Especially the grain. With my digital cameras, I try to lower the ISO so I won't get much grain, but with film, it looks beautiful.
Sure, some photos didn't turn out well. Like this one with my colleagues from work, shot along Ayala Avenue. I bumped up the exposure and the shadows making it more grainy than it already is. And I think it's still fine. Somehow. :)
I like how liberating it was to just stroll around without being over-conscious of your camera being stolen. The disposable camera is cheap. Some people find it weird to see someone still shooting with this thing, especially here in the Philippines where it's not that common. And I still think it's fine. Just do your thing.
Of course, I had to take photos of our dogs.
Last weekend, I visited the Pinto Art Museum again in Antipolo together with some friends.
Here's a quirk from the camera. These two photos are supposed to be just a single frame. I included the one I shot with the X100T for reference.
The other frames turned out well.
My X100T's camera died at some time during our stroll. Good thing I have a spare camera!
This time, the finger photobombs only once! That's quite an improvement, if you ask me. Haha!
Here are a few more photos from the museum taken with the X100T.
I'm used to instant gratification on digital photos but I'll try to adjust my expectations in the future if I ever transition into film photography.
